IBM Mainframe Operating Systems

IBM Mainframe Operating Systems have evolved over time. The current Operating system used on Mainframe is the Z/OS. It is the successor of the OS/360 system. OS/360 was the operating system released in the 1960s.

The 360 in the name signifies that it catered to every industry. Before the OS/360 the operating systems released were specifically made for one particular industry.
